Bicycle campers

Hello.

More and more bike caravans have been built recently. There are a lot of solutions. There are as many as there are builders. You can find a lot of videos on YouTube on this subject by typing in "bicycle camper", for example.
I have decided to add my proverbial five cents.

I built my first camper van, the KAPRYS 2, with big breaks in 8 months. Before you start building your version: research, preview, pay attention to details, draw simple blueprints with dimensions, pay attention to the weight of the components used, etc. etc. Ask if you don't understand something or have doubts. Don't be offended if someone tells you it needs to be improved. After all, it's your muscles that will pull the trailer.

And what lights should a trailer have (in Poland) ?
At the rear, at least one red position light and at least one red retro-reflector. At the front, if the trailer is wider than the bicycle, one white position light. If the trailer prevents you from signalling a turn with your hand, it must be equipped with additional turn indicators !!! Fortunately, meeting these requirements is not expensive.
You will find all the construction details in the documentation. Also, how to do the electrical installation - if you want one. I will show you how to make a heater, which will come in handy on colder days. It will be safe and you won't get carbon dioxide poisoning, or worse, carbon monoxide.

KAPRYS 2 - parameters and description

Dimensions: length (without drawbar) 195cm, width 91cm, height 135cm. Weight: 151kg.

While the dimensions are not unusual, the weight is considerable, not to say large. This has its advantages in high winds. On the other hand, it is quite a challenge to pull. The first tests were successful. Riding on sand or muddy terrain is completely out of the question. This is the price I paid for great comfort inside. It's quiet, warm, lots of amenities.
But does it have to weigh so much ? No, it doesn't. I used steel tubes that I had on hand. A kilo here, two kilos there and it will add up. The 33Ah battery alone is almost 11kg !!!

So make projects, count the kilos. How about a PV panel of 20-30W rather than 100W ???? The battery will be much lighter and cheaper. It will certainly give the light you need in the evening and at night and charge your mobile phone.

I invite you to watch a film - a trailer about the KAPRYS 2 camper and films that will be made soon.

Soon there will be PDF documentations showing the subsequent stages of the camper's construction.
